“When the child goes out, it is the world itself that offers itself to him. Let us take the child out to show him real things instead of making objects which represent ideas and closing them up in cupboards.”
– Dr. Maria Montessori
To celebrate Family Day we gathered the children, their moms and dads and our teachers and headed off to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens. We love these days because we get to spend time with our children in a different setting and we’re able to interact with the parents, who are so much a part of our school.
The Montessori philosophy is very much about the outdoors classroom because it is the ideal sensorial experience. Children get to touch, smell, see, and dare we say it, taste nature, in a way no textbook or iPad can.
We’ve included 75 rock star ideas to inspire and help you create the perfect outdoor learning experience.
